It's no surprise that Edsel Ford, the only son of Henry, was introduced to automobiles at a young age. In fact, he received his first car at age ten! But rather than merely follow in his father's footsteps at Ford, Edsel took on the leadership of Lincoln Motor Company and turned it into a power player in the industry.

"Besides their dark features and profound love for automobiles," reads a Lincoln Now piece called "A Beautiful Mind," "Edsel and his father Henry had little in common. Edsel was quiet and contemplative. He dressed modestly, though fastidiously. Henry, on the other hand, was known for his intensity. While Henry had a flair for showmanship, Edsel preferred to stay anonymous in a crowd. And though he excelled in school, Edsel went straight to work at The Ford Motor Company in 1912 at the tender age of 18." Find out what happened next in the text embedded above.
