We here at Tuttle-Click Lincoln in Irvine know that keeping your family safe while driving is your top priority. That is why we want to be sure you understand the importance of tire tread on your vehicle.

Tire tread is what allows your tire to grip the road and bring you to a stop when you hit the brakes. The thinner the tire tread, the longer your vehicle will take to slow down. Brand new tires have a tread depth of about 10/32 of an inch. Historically dealerships have stated that once the tread depth reaches 2/32 of an inch, they must be replaced, but this measurement has changed. Because safety is not something to mess around with the new convention for tire replacement tread depth has been doubled to 4/32 of an inch. Anything below this measurement and your car may not be able to stop fast enough in an emergency.

If you have any questions or would like us to personally inspect your tire tread, give us a call or stop by Tuttle-Click Lincoln in Irvine today!
